Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the English department and helping students develop their literacy skills and appreciation for literature. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Classroom Support: Assisting English teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons, providing one-to-one or small group support to students who may require additional help with reading, writing, or comprehension.

2. Literacy Intervention: Implementing literacy intervention programs to support students who are struggling with reading or writing, providing targeted support and monitoring progress to ensure improvement over time.

3. Resource Preparation: Preparing teaching materials, resources, and literature texts for English lessons, ensuring they are aligned with the curriculum objectives and cater to the diverse learning needs of students.

4. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting in the assessment of students' literacy skills, providing constructive feedback on written work, and supporting teachers in evaluating students' progress and identifying areas for improvement.

5. Promoting a Love for Literature: Inspiring students to develop a love for literature and language through creative and engaging activities, such as book clubs, poetry recitals, and drama performances.

Requirements:

• A degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field from a reputable university.
• A passion for education and a genuine desire to support students in their literacy development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong literacy skills and a sound understanding of English grammar, punctuation, and literary devices.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing literacy challenges.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to the overall success of the English department.
