Level 3 EAL Support Assistant (Sheffield S5)

This role is to support EAL students to access the curriculum through delivering interventions and providing in-class support within the S5 area. Duties may include:

  • Plan and deliver curriculum based interventions to develop students' English language skills and subject knowledge
  • Provide in-class support for EAL students using appropriate resources
  • Give regular feedback on student progress and keep up to date records
  • Establish good relationships with students, by presenting positive personal image and responding appropriately to individual needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students
  • Encourage students to act independently and to become independent learners
  • Carry out English language assessments of international new arrivals
  • Give feedback to students, teachers and parents on progress and attitude to learning through reports and parents' evenings
  • Advise and support teachers to differentiate for EAL students
  • Undertake student record keeping and updating of records, information and data
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behaviour management strategies
  • Monitor students' responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
  • Administer and assess routine tests and invigilate exams and undertake routine marking of students' work

The ideal candidate will have Maths and English GCSE or equivalent and Education to A' Level or Level 3 equivalent. A Degree and/or a TEFL qualification would be desirable.
