Designated Safeguarding Lead
Job description
We are currently working with a well-regarded secondary school in South Birmingham who are seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their safeguarding team on a full-time basis.
This is a key role within the school, responsible for leading and managing safeguarding procedures and ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding practice are maintained across the setting. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, staff, external agencies and families to support the safety and wellbeing of all students.
The school has a strong pastoral structure and is looking for someone who can confidently lead safeguarding processes while supporting staff with guidance and best practice.
Key responsibilities include:

Acting as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead and main point of contact for safeguarding concerns

Managing and responding to safeguarding referrals and concerns in line with statutory guidance

Working closely with the senior leadership team, staff, parents and external agencies

Maintaining accurate safeguarding records and ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies

Supporting and advising staff on safeguarding procedures and best practice

Contributing to the wider pastoral and student wellbeing support within the school
The school is looking for someone who:

Holds a recognised DSL or SENCO qualification
-
Has strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures within an education setting
-
Has experience working within a secondary school environment
-
Is confident managing safeguarding cases and liaising with external agencies
-
Has excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
