Teacher of Design Technology - Engineering, Construction or Resistant Materials Teacher

Reporting to: Head of Design Technology

Location: Scarborough

Contract: Temporary leading to Permanent

Working Pattern: Part Time or Full Time

Salary: Daily Rate starting from £130 per day according to experience and qualifications
£33,800 - £51,740 pro rata salary

The Role

You will be an important part of the Design Technology team at a Post 16 College in Scarborough. The College provides a clear line of sight to work and careers and it is their aim to put a relentless focus on quality in teaching and to do so in a high-quality environment so that they deliver an excellent outcome for every student.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach well-structured, differentiated lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and cultivate every student's intellectual curiosity
  • Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, follow staff members and families in order to promote progress and outcomes
  • Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members and network colleagues as a committed team member
  • Participate actively throughout the network, by attending relevant meetings
  • Work with colleagues, students and families to develop a strong and diverse community within the College

  • Part of an OFSTED graded Outstanding College Group
  • Flexibility to work on a permanent contract or through the Agency; Full Time or Part Time
  • Liaise with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority with confidence, tact and diplomacy
  • Work with the UK's Leading Education Recruitment Agency, Teaching Personnel, with a dedicated Consultant to offer support, assistance and guidance throughout your placement(s)

Person Specification - Teacher of Design Technology - Engineering, Construction or Resistant Materials Teacher

Qualification Criteria

  • Qualified to teach and work in the UK, holding QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Degree in Design Technology or related subject

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable commitment to raising attainment of all pupils in a challenging classroom environment
  • Excellent understanding of both subject and general teaching pedagogy
  • Be or demonstrate the potential to become an outstanding teacher
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for Design Technology
  • Effective and systematic behaviour management
  • Knowledge of the national Secondary Education system or National Vocational Qualifications, examinations and curriculum

  • Right to work in the UK - Original UK Birth Certificate with Proof of National Insurance Number, or Passport
  • Commitment to equality of opportunity and the safeguarding and welfare of all students
  • Willingness to undertake additional training if required
  • This post is subject to having an Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate that is registered to the Update Service, or willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel
