Deputy Nursery Manager – York

Salary: £28,509 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

About the Role

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth and effective day-to-day running of the setting. You’ll play a key role in supporting our team and maintaining high standards of care and education.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a team of Early Years Practitioners

  • Acting as a positive role model for both staff and children

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all

  • Ensuring all requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are met

  • Overseeing Health, Safety and Welfare standards within the nursery

  • Supporting the Nursery Manager in achieving maximum occupancy and quality provision

  • Monitoring children’s progress and ensuring smooth transitions through each stage of their development

  • Deputising for the Nursery Manager in their absence and carrying out additional duties as required

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about delivering exceptional childcare and education

  • A confident leader who can inspire, support, and motivate a team

  • Flexible, proactive, and able to use their own initiative

  • Committed to continuous improvement and professional development

  • Knowledgeable in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework

  • Holds a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education (desirable)

  • Holds an enhanced DBS check or is willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
