Job description

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Complex SEND School
Location: Southampton
Start Date: September 2025
£13.75 per hour – Term Time Only
Full Time – Rolling Contract

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Do you have experience in either an educational or medical setting working with children? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the team at a large, modern, purpose-built primary school that caters for children with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The school boasts outstanding facilities, carefully designed to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment where all pupils can learn, play and thrive.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with complex SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assisting with classroom activities, therapy sessions and personal care when required

  • Promoting communication, independence, and engagement in learning

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide consistent and tailored support

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in either an educational or medical setting

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Professional or personal experience with children with additional needs is highly desirable

  • A commitment to inclusive education and the wellbeing of every child

This is a full-time, term-time only position on a rolling contract, offering £13.75 per hour. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone looking to make a real impact in a supportive and well-resourced environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
