Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Special Educational Needs (SEMH) Primary School

Temporary position with potential for permanent position

Starting September | £13.75 per hour

 

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our Special Educational Needs (SEMH) primary school, which provides specialist support for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our school is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment tailored to the individual needs of each pupil, many of whom have complex additional needs alongside SEMH.

This full-time, temporary role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced staff to support pupils in their academic, social, and emotional development. The position will commence in September, with the potential for permanent employment in the forthcoming academic year.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils’ learning and development in line with individual education plans (IEPs)

  • Promoting positive behaviour and fostering respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families

  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored interventions and activities designed to meet pupils’ social and emotional needs

  • Contributing to a supportive and inclusive school ethos that values diversity and wellbeing

 

Person specification:

  • Experience or a strong understanding of working with children with SEMH and additional complex needs

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with pupils and staff

  • A passionate and empathetic approach to supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and educational progress

  • Commitment to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
