Job Advert: SEMH Learning Support Assistant (Primary) – Southampton

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have personal or professional experience working with children who present with challenging behaviours? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We are currently seeking a full-time SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a nurturing and dedicated team at a specialist primary school in Southampton. The school caters for children aged 5–11 with SEMH needs and associated behaviours. This is a term-time only role with working hours from 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Requirements:

  • Personal or professional experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs

  • Available full time, Monday to Friday (8:30am–3:00pm)

  • GCSE English and Maths at a pass grade (or equivalent)

  • A current DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

  • A calm, resilient, and nurturing approach to support pupils effectively

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
