Careers & World of Work Manager | Location: Cambridge | Start Date: ASAP ️| Contract: Permanent | Full Year | 37 hours per week | Salary: £37,705 per annum + excellent benefits
About the Role

We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading Further Education college in Cambridge and Huntingdon for a Careers & World of Work Manager to lead a dynamic team delivering high-quality careers education, advice, and guidance to students and apprentices.
This is a pivotal role within the Student Services department, managing both the Careers and Work Experience functions. You’ll ensure that students receive outstanding support in developing their employability skills, securing meaningful work placements, and making informed career choices that prepare them for success in the world of work.
As the Careers & World of Work Manager, you’ll:
• Lead and develop a team delivering impartial careers advice and guidance to students and apprentices
• Oversee high-quality work experience and T Level placements that meet Gatsby Benchmarks and employer standards
• Collaborate with curriculum teams, business partners, and external organisations to enhance career pathways
• Manage budgets, reporting, and data systems to monitor service quality and impact
• Represent the college at events, open evenings, and careers fairs
• Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold the Matrix Standard and CDI Code of Ethics
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
• A Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development (or equivalent)
• A good level of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Experience leading or managing a careers or employability service within education or training
• Excellent knowledge of careers guidance frameworks, employer engagement, and labour market information
• Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Desirable:
• A teaching qualification (PTLLS/DTLLS, Cert.Ed, or PGCE)
• Experience implementing employability or progression programmes in schools or colleges
