Care Assistant, Classroom Support, South Croydon SEN School

Date posted : 13/03/19
£55 - £75 per day + pension scheme

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Do you have experience working as a care assistant or support worker?

Would you like a new opportunity to work in an Ofsted rated 'outstanding' special needs school caring for disabled children on a part time basis?

Are you able to work in South Croydon?

I would like to hear from you if the answer to these questions is yes! This is a large primary school that caters for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, including physical and medical difficulties. They are looking for two members of support staff to act as 'bank staff' - it will be like working a zero hours contract. The school will sometimes need you to work 5 days a week, but sometimes it may be 4 days, or 3 days, or 2 days per week. So this kind of work will suit if you are flexible on how many days you are looking to work each week.

  • There will be opportunity to work across both primary and secondary age classes comprising a maximum of 10 students in each class
  • Each class has a teacher and you will work collaboratively with up to 3 other teaching assistants who will be in the room with you
  • You will assist with sensory development as well as communication and understanding
  • You will be required to assist with using hoist equipment to move the students in and out of wheelchairs
  • Prior experience of working with physical disabilities is essential
  • There will be opportunity to apply for a permanent position at the school if you like working there, and the agency will support your application if you choose to make one

Relevant training in Makaton, PECS, moving and handling, first aid or safeguarding is highly desirable. Once registered with Teaching Personnel you will be eligible to book yourself onto any of the training courses that we offer, which will either be free or at a reduced cost.

You will benefit from daily pay rates between £55 and £75 per day, dependent on experience. You will also receive a national insurance and pension contribution from Teaching Personnel as we do not use an umbrella company.

To find out more about this role, or to apply for it, contact Louise in the London Bridge office.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken an enhanced CHILD WORKFORCE only DBS, or be willing to apply for a new one as soon as possible.
