Behaviour Teaching Assistant

Blackburn Year 2 ASC Support Assistant required in GOOD Catholic Primary School

• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and Special Educational Needs
• Level 2 or above qualification is a necessity & PECs experience required
• Work on a 1:1 basis alongside a child with an EHCP/Statement

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to appoint a teaching assistant on a long term basis to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Y2 who has funded support for his learning needs and behaviour.

The Head teacher in school has commented that ‘the young boy needs a routine and structure- the successful candidate will need to have experience with Autism and associated behavioural needs- we use a range of strategies in the Year 2 class to ensure the child is catered for and can meet all learning objectives.



The school received GOOD from Ofsted back in 2014 during a full inspection- With the behaviour of the children and teaching assistants being mentioned as the driving force behind the high standards of attainment in school. The school is located within an ‘affluent’ part of Blackburn, 5 minutes for the town centre. The majority of children do arrive at school working in line or above expected levels. However there are more children arriving in school who require additional support, including EAL.

The role is to start in October, due to funding and will continue, five days a week until at least December 2017, with it possibly continuing for the remainder of the year. In the past, the school have used the agency to shortlist, appoint and then contract on a temp to perm basis.
