Behaviour Teaching Assistant- Stockport

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work at our partner secondary school in Stockport from September. This new Behaviour Teaching Assistant position represents an exciting opportunity for someone with previous experience of challenging disengaged behaviour to work in a secondary school environment.

  • Behaviour Teaching Assistant- full time position
  • To promote positive behaviour across all year groups
  • To be the assigned 'key-worker' for identified pupils
  • One term vacancy initially to ascertain suitability
  • School located in Stockport with excellent accessibility for those on public transport also

The role-

Due to additional funding being allocated to the pastoral department, our partner school wish to add a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to their team. This role will specifically focus on promoting positive behaviour across all year groups. This will initially be with the new Year 7 cohort to help support them with their transition to secondary school. The incoming Behaviour Teaching Assistant will also be assigned identified pupils and be responsible for their progress within the school. This will include making sure they attend school, are on time for lessons and are engaging within them.

Consequently, previous experience of working with 11-16 year olds in an educational capacity is essential as is the ability to build rapport with pupils quickly. You must also be able to counter-act any apathy to learning and challenge any disaffected behaviour in a calm and confident manner.

This position will initially be until Christmas so that suitability for the role can be determined. However, there is a possibility of a fixed-term contract being available thereafter.

The school-

Our partner school is a popular choice within the local area and is regularly over-subscribed. A large proportion of the pupils who attend are from White British backgrounds. In the school's 2017 Ofsted report, Senior Leaders were praised for their utilisation of funding to improve behaviour within the school.

It is located in the Romiley area of Stockport making it easily accessible to the surrounding areas such as Bredbury, Marple and Egerton via the M60. Gee Cross, Hyde and the other areas of Tameside are only a short drive away. There are also direct bus links to the school for those requiring public transport.

The SENCO and Inclusion Manager are looking to meet with suitable candidates at the earliest convenience. Therefore for immediate consideration, please submit your full CV to Paul via the link below.
