Are you looking to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people?
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a client school in Basingstoke who are seeking a behaviour support assistant on a full time basis, to begin after the summer, in September.
As a behaviour support assistant, you'll offer practical help and emotional support to children and young people. The focus of your role is to provide support to vulnerable children to engage them within their education. The children you will be required to work with will need emotional support and nurture to empower them to access the national curriculum. Your role will vary depending on the individual needs of the child you are working with, usually on a 1:1 basis and the ages of the children will vary from 11- 16. Some of the children within the provision display social, emotional and mental health difficulties and you may be required to support children who are living in foster care or shared childrens homes.
Due to the nature of the provision some of the children you will be required to work with may display some of the following behaviours:
- Social anxiety
- Challenging behaviour
- Drug and alcohol addiction
- Language barriers
- Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties
As a behaviour support worker you will be required to work on a 1:1 basis to provide support and guidance in core subjects - Literacy, Maths and Science. You will be required to track the progress made by the individual and you may need to provide reading and writing resources where required.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental health Difficulties and managing challenging behaviour. However, the client school will also accept candidates with backgrounds in youth work, counselling and graduates. Through Teaching Personnel's CPD academy we can also support your professional development with our upcoming training opportunities including Team-Teach and Effective Behaviour Management. Our Team of SEN Specialist consultants can enrol you onto your desired course and provide continued guidance for those with a keen interest in making a difference to young people's education.
Teaching Personnel can offer behaviour support assistant's competitive pay rates of £270 - £350 per week, for the right candidate longer term rates can be negotiated on your behalf. Teaching Personnel work with a large number of SEN schools across the UK, if you are interested in registering to work through Teaching Personnel for full time or part time or to gain SEN experience please call us today for a confidential chat to learn more.
