Job description
We are seeking a committed and patient Behaviour Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 4 boy who requires tailored behavioural, emotional and learning support. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers and thrive in a nurturing school environment.
Main Duties
Support & Engagement
- Provide consistent 1:1 behaviour and learning support
- Assist the pupil with emotional regulation and engagement in lessons
- Use positive behaviour management techniques and de-escalation methods
Collaboration & Planning
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and pastoral team
- Help implement personalised behaviour plans and interventions
- Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews
Daily Activities
- Support during classwork, small-group tasks and transitions
- Encourage positive social interactions and independence
- Provide support during breaktimes, lunchtimes and unstructured periods
Person Specification
Essential Qualities
- Calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Ability to build trust and rapport with children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Consistent with boundaries and expectations
Experience (Preferred)
- Previous experience supporting behaviour or SEND in a school setting
- Knowledge of positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation tools

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
