Teaching Personnel are working with multi-academy trusts in Mansfield, to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant. The purpose of the role will be to deliver behaviour support, across the school working alongside the pastoral team. Teaching Personnel are looking for candidates who have a background in childcare, counselling, social care and youth work. These schools are looking for individual's who will be committed and enthusiastic in order to establish positive relationships between students and others.
Your role as a behaviour support assistant will consist of supporting pupils with their emotional and social well-being, enabling pupils to access academic work and helping to grow their self esteem and confidence. The pupils that you will be supporting display behaviours that can be seen as challenging. As well as this, some pupils have needs such as ADHD, autism, anxiety and depression.
Skills
You'll need to show:
- Good communication and listening skills
- The ability to build and maintain rapport with adults and children
- Calmness under pressure and when dealing with challenging or confrontational behaviour
- Flexibility and adaptability
To work with children, young people and vulnerable groups, you will need to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, as well as ensure that you have a Childcare Workforce DBS.
Requirements:
- Have an enhanced child workforce DBS on the Update Service.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Strong behaviour management.
- Clear communication skills.
- Be able to provide two relevant references.
- Previous experience supporting challenging behaviour.
