Behaviour Support Assistant

A school in Harrogate require someone with experience of 1-2-1 behaviour support in any capacity for next academic year.

A primary school need an experienced behaviour support worker to work with a child who will be going into Year 2 next year. The child has had to spend an increasing amount of time outside of class and in this capacity the school need someone who can be trusted to handle volatile behaviour when they become agitated and restless. The other half of the role combines elements of TA work when they’re in class by supporting them and keeping them focused, as well as intervening if required in break and lunchtimes.

The school need someone as currently the general TAs are struggling with their behaviour especially when needed out of class. The child has SEMH needs and therefore can often become overwhelmed in full class lesson scenarios. A candidate who is experienced in handling volatile behaviour such as this and would not be phased by it is definitely needed, therefore the more experience the better. The child is large for his age and can be physical at times, so any positive handling training such as Team Teach or MAPPA would be highly valued by school.

The role is full-time and begins in September until Christmas, although this is highly likely to be extended should the dedicated support be working well until the end of the academic year. The SLT would like anyone with experience in a behavioural setting, whether that be PRUs, care homes, specialist provision schools or even similar roles in mainstream schools.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
