Job description

We are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit who is looking for an experienced TA with experience working with challenging behaviour. The school caters for pupils aged 11-16 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. We have exciting new opportunities available at the school as they undergo expansion into a new state of the art provision specifically for pupils with special educational needs. The head wishes to recruit full time Behaviour Mentors to work within their secondary phase.

The pupils have been referred from mainstream schools due to various needs including behavioural, low numeracy, literacy and SEMH.

The role involves supporting teachers with behaviour in class or during sporting activities, as well as leading some 1:1 or small group mentoring sessions. A background in sport and the ability to contribute to the school's sports programme would be beneficial.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have proven experience working with pupils with SEMH / SEN in a school or alternative provision
  • Be resilient, show enthusiasm and commitment
  • Have good organisational skills
  • Be a good communicator who can work closely with your colleagues, external agencies and parents.
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Be able to work on your own initiative

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
