Job description

Teaching Assistant

The role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside the class Teacher, assisting them with the running of lessons and management of pupils. You will be required to adapt alternative learning approaches to suit individual students, adhering to their additional needs and monitoring their development. You will establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils, small groups, and parents to ensure they understand and achieve the tasks. You will also be required to support children with significant development needs, for example; cognitive ability, SEMH and learning skills etc.

The school

This is a specialist SEMH school which caters for pupils aged 9-16 years, who require additional support for their educational development, behavioural challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions, and social, emotional and mental health. All students have an EHC plan, and participate in additional interventions to aid with their learning. The school provides its pupils with additional support such as intervention sessions and 1:1 support staff to ensure they are all gaining essential life skills and progressing in their development in all areas.

           Requirements

  • Be available on a full-time basis.
  • Experience in a school setting.
  • Ability to deal with challenging situations and behaviours.
  • Have experience working to support children/ adults with additional needs- personal or professional.
  • Share a vision to inspire, motivate and support students.

          Key Information

  • Full-time - Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 3:30 pm.
  • Secondary SEMH provision.
  • Leyland based
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Caters for pupils aged 9-16 with additional needs, all have an EHC plan.
  • Competitive hourly rate of pay £11.85 - £12.33 p/h.
  • Able to work with pupils who can display challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
