Are you seeking a challenging yet rewarding role supporting Secondary school pupils?

School's are becoming increasingly worried about the effects of lockdown on students and the way it may impact their behaviour.  It's no surprise that the lack of routine for many students has led to higher levels of disengaged students displaying challenging behaviour.  

 

Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity for a full time, "Behaviour Buddy" Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary school in the Newport area.

This role will begin after February half term and will be until the end of the academic year (there may be opportunity to work in the hub school before half term).

The successful applicant may be able to join the school on a permanent contract pending a review in July.

The Role:

  • Full time - Until the end of the academic year
  • 22/02/2021 start date - or sooner if possible.
  • Behaviour Buddy for Secondary school pupils
  • GBP60 - GBP70 per day (with no umbrella fees)

This large secondary school in Newport is seeking a Behaviour Buddy to join their supportive department to help re-engage students back into school life when they return after lockdown.

This role can be challenging however it's a very rewarding role for the right Behaviour Buddy who wants to make a difference in young learner's lives!

As a Behaviour Buddy you will join the school's inclusion provision which gives support to pupils that are vulnerable and often challenging nature. You will work closely with your colleagues to create action plans for students across Key Stages 3 and 4, taking an active role in implementing a programme that positively encourages learners to overcome barriers to learning, improve their skills and ultimately setting them up for progression into adult life.

You will be supporting pupils with different SEND needs such as SEMH, EBD, Severe Challenging Behaviour and ASD, experience of supporting pupils with SEND needs is desirable but is essential.

You will support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. 

Who makes a good "Behaviour Buddy"?

The successful Behaviour Buddy will be able to build relationships quickly and have a none judgemental mindset.  You must be patient, passionate about helping others and above all, reliable, as continuity is extremely important for these students after so much disruption throughout lockdown.

We are looking to appoint someone enthusiastic and dynamic, who is also willing to learn new skills to support the pupils.

  • Psychology Graduate
  • Sports Graduate
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants
  • Ex Police
  • Foster Carer
  • Art, Drama & Music Graduates

-  Experience  (professional or personal) supporting children or vulnerable individuals
