Autism teaching assistant, Purley, Surrey, SEN primary school

Are you looking for an SEN teaching assistant position? Do you have experience working with children or adults who have autism or moderate learning difficulties?

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a fantastic primary SEN school in Purley, Surrey. This school encourage their children to reach for the stars and staff believe that every child matters, every day. They are looking for a full time teaching assistant to support a year 2 class comprised of 8 students with autism and moderate learning difficulties. Previous experience of working as a teaching assistant within a classroom setting is essential, and any 1:1 experience of supporting ASD or MLD is highly desirable.

Trials for this long term position are being requested by the school over the next three weeks, and the position will begin properly after the Easter holidays. If you would like to be considered, you must have the following:

  • Experience of working as a teaching assistant
  • Strong English, Maths and ICT skills
  • Excellent references from two previous employers or course tutors
  • An enhanced child workforce DBS on the update service - or be willing to apply for a new one asap
  • Full time availability from 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Any further relevant training or qualifications are desirable - particularly Makaton

Teaching Personnel are committed to the professional development of both our teaching and support staff. We offer CPD courses that are either free or at a reduced cost and these can be booked once you are registered and working for us. We also offer a referral bonus of £50 if you recommend another teaching assistant or teacher to register with us.

This post will commence as a temporary position through the agency, however there will be opportunity to apply for a permanent position with the school if you wish to continue working with them in September 2019.
