Level 2 EYFS Practitioner – Nursery Provision
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (Easter 2026 – July 2026)

Are you passionate about creating meaningful early learning experiences for young children? A friendly and supportive primary school in Thornton is seeking a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner to join their Nursery team from Easter 2026. This position will run until the end of the academic year (July 2026) to cover a staffing gap within their established EYFS provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves working in early years, thrives in a play-based environment, and wants to make a genuine difference during a crucial stage of child development.
About the Role
The successful practitioner will join a nurturing Nursery provision catering for children aged 3–4. The school prides itself on offering a calm, child-centred learning environment where emotional wellbeing, curiosity, and independence are celebrated daily.
Your responsibilities will include:
Daily Teaching & Support
- Creating a warm, secure environment where every child feels valued
- Supporting child-led and adult-led activities aligned with the EYFS framework
- Working closely with the Nursery Teacher and EYFS Lead to deliver high‑quality provision
- Assisting with planning, resourcing, and setting up indoor and outdoor learning areas
- Preparing engaging, age‑appropriate activities that inspire creativity and exploration
Child Development & Assessment
- Observing children’s learning and contributing to developmental records
- Supporting next steps for individual children and key groups
- Encouraging language development, early maths, social skills, and self-regulation
- Supporting children with additional needs under guidance from the SENCo
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and inclusive learning environment
- Adhering to safeguarding procedures and promoting children’s wellbeing at all times
- Building positive and professional relationships with families

What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from practitioners who are:
- Level 2 qualified in Early Years (or an equivalent recognised childcare qualification)
- Experienced in Nursery or EYFS environments
- Confident supporting learning through play and exploration
- Kind, patient, and child‑centred in their approach
- Organised, reliable, and able to adapt quickly to the routine of an established team
- Passionate about early childhood development and safeguarding children
- Willing to obtain or update their DBS if needed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
