Job description
A Specialist SEN School in Portsmouth are seeking passionate and motivated Teaching Assistants to join their team and work 1:1 and in groups with their pupils. The school provides tailored education for Primary and Secondary pupils with a range of needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, complex needs, Autism, and physical needs. The environment is nurturing, structured, and designed to promote each pupil’s learning, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
Your Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide individual and classroom support to pupils with complex needs
- Support pupils in developing communication, independence, and life skills
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement personalised learning plans
- Contribute to a calm, positive, and safe learning environment
About You
We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including education, childcare, care, health, youth work, or family support — The school ideally want a candidate who is an all-rounder; someone who is comfortable working across all age groups within a variety of needs, and able to manage challenging behavious whilst demonstrating strong resilience and a flexibility to support various classes when needed.

Safeguarding
All applicants must hold an Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one prior to starting, in line with safeguarding regulations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
