Autism Teaching Assistant

A lovely primary school in Enfield are looking to recruit a full time member of support staff for their autism resource base. The class that requires a new teaching assistant is mixed key stage 1 and benefits from a special, separated area of the school that is purpose designed for children who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe autism.

You will be required to:

• Work full time (Monday – Friday, 08:30am – 15:30pm)
• Commit to the rest of the academic year- April - June 2021 and extending to academic year 2021-2022
• Provide 1:1 support for different children in the class
• Assist with academic, social, communication and sensory development
• Work in a team with the class teacher and another teaching assistant

You must already have experience of working with autism, either in a school setting or an alternative. Experience of using PECs, Makaton or BSL is highly desirable, although most students are verbal.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
