Autism SEN TA

A primary school based in East London with an autism provision attached to the mainstream school are looking for an Autism specialist Teaching assistant. There are currently 18 pupils based at the provision that are on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The pupils within the provision are primary aged 4 - 11 years. There are three classes, a sensory room, a cooking area and access to mainstream facilities.

All the pupils have an Educational Health Care Plan with a diagnosis of ASD. Some of the pupils may have associated difficulties e.g. medical, learning and sensory. No single approach or method is used in the Provision; they use a range of established autism specific approaches and methods, depending on the needs of the learners. These include; Attention autism, Aspects of TEACCH, SPELL, PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Sensory integration and Social Stories.

The supportive school provide extensive training and progression for the SEN Primary ASD Teaching assistants, which will advance your qualifications and experience working with Special Educational Needs.

Qualifications

Good numeracy/literacy skills

NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent

First aid training as appropriate
