Aspiring Teaching Assistant | Special Educational Needs
Cardiff
Ideal opportunity to gain experience needed for future career aspirations
Specialist Teaching Assistants in schools perform a vital function of bridging the gap between what teachers are teaching and what students are learning. This is challenging enough in a mainstream primary school, but if students have any additional learning needs, then learning support workers need to be skilled and able spin the plates of pushing students to maximise progress, supporting them pastorally, catering to their additional needs, managing their behaviour, and building rapport to gain their trust.
Does this sound like the sort of challenge you'd be interested in?
Teaching Personnel's Specialist SEN branch are working with an number of SEN schools that caters specifically for students between 3-19 who have been diagnosed with a wide range of SEN including Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) & Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Some of which may have a Statement of SEN which is a legal document to ensure appropriate support is given.
The schools I work with are looking for Specialist Teaching Assistants to support their students with accessing education from as soon as possible, with the possibility of an on-going role after half term if the fit is right. Most of the teaching is done on a 1:1 basis, so that students' individual needs can be catered for, unlike in a mainstream school where they can be lost in the noise of 30 others. Ideally you will have a child & adult workforce DBS that is on the update service.
If this sounds like the job for you then please get in touch with your Specialist SEN Branch here at Teaching Personnel at your earliest convenience on 02920 660270 and ask for Bethan.
Alternatively please click on the "apply now" button and submit your CV.
