SEN Support Assistant- Ince / Wigan Primary School

  • Level 2/3 or Degree Qualified
  • Experience working alongside children with Autism and Speech Language and Communication needs
  • Primary Education experience is a necessity

SEN Support Assistant- Ince / Wigan Primary School

The role:

The role is to work on a part-time basis in a Reception/Year 1 class supporting a number of children from a range of challenging backgrounds. The majority of children who you will be supporting will have a range of first languages, predominately Urdu and Punjabi. Mixed with this, the children will be working below expected age levels and have a range of Special Educational Needs.

The School:

The school is a larger than average sized primary school with more than one class per year group. The school is located between the Wigan and Ince areas and has children arriving in school from Punjabi and Urdu backgrounds. The Reception and Year 1 class in which the role will be has 30 children and another full time teaching assistant. The Head teacher:

The Head teacher in school is reasonably new to the role and is keen to raise standards straight away. The school is currently graded as GOOD by Ofsted and are aiming for OUTSTANDING in their next full inspection. The Head came to Teaching Personnel earlier in the week and noted that he ‘would like an academic individual, so it has to be someone with Maths or English at GCESE C or above…and I would like someone who can communicate with children with varying languages as well as someone who can hit the ground running and not be phased by working with children with special educational needs such as ASC and Behavioural needs’
