Learning Support Assistant

• The job pays £350 to £400 per week and guarantees great job satisfaction.

Job criteria:

• Support teaching & learning activities with individual children/small groups in KS3&KS4.
• Work under the guidance of teaching staff to implement agreed work programmes.
• Assist the teacher in the planning cycle and the management & preparation of resources.
• Assist with the inclusion of pupils with SEN and supporting small groups or individuals within the classroom.
• Be an integral part of the school, working in close partnership with all staff.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Planning

• To work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and differentiating lessons/work plans as appropriate.

Support

• To provide feedback to students in relation to progress and achievement.
• To monitor students’ responses to learning through observation.
• To be responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with the teacher.

Teaching and Learning

• To implement learning activities/teaching, adjusting activities according to student needs.
• To support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop students competence and independence.
• To help students to access learning activities through specialist support.

General

• To encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all students in activities.
• To be aware of, and support, difference and ensure all students have opportunities to learn and develop.
• To provide differentiated support for students in mainstream lessons; administer coursework, produce worksheets for agreed activities etc.
• To carry out any other duties as directed by the SENCO.
• To mentor identified KS3/KS4 SEN students.
