Academic Mentor
Job description
Do you want a role that directly supports and influences academic attainment for students? Are you an ambitious graduate looking to gain more exposure in a school setting?
We are working with several schools who are looking for academic mentors - this role is a great opportunity for recent graduates who are looking to gain more classroom-based experience before going on to complete their PGCE. The successful candidate will ideally have some experience working with children in a tutoring capacity or a Pupil Referral Unit.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and coach students on a wide range of academic and pastoral topics and being confident in approach
- Running 1:1 and small group interventions for children who are struggling in core subjects and help raise attainment – being a positive and supportive influence throughout
- Liaising with teaching staff and being able to monitor progress in accordance with the policies and procedures outlined by the school
From you we will need:
- A recent graduate degree or equivalent educated [English or Psychology preferred but others will be considered]
- Experience working with young people in academic or mentoring roles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for education and helping students reach their potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
