1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 3 Autism Support) – Full-Time Role
Location: Irlam
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
About the Opportunity
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Irlam to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a full-time basis from September 2026.
This is a highly rewarding role for somebody who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You will play a key role in helping a pupil access learning, develop social and communication skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment.

The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 3 pupil with autism, providing tailored support throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Supporting the pupil to access classroom learning and engage in activities
- Implementing strategies recommended by the SENCO and external professionals
- Encouraging communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Supporting the development of independence and self-confidence
- Adapting learning resources to meet the pupil's individual needs
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs
- A patient, calm, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain adaptable and respond to a child's changing needs
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational setting
- Level 2 Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
