Teaching Assistant Jobs

Whichever teaching assistant specialism you choose we’ve got the experience to help you find the right job. As the UK’s leading education recruitment agency, we place teaching staff in over 5,000 schools across the country. Operating from 80 branches, we’re able to source roles that are local to you or look into finding exciting positions in a new area.

Teaching Assistants are essential to the education system - just look at how they were the hidden heroes during lockdown - and at Teaching Personnel we want to make sure they get the recognition they deserve. That’s why we’ve launched National Teaching Assistant’s Day, to celebrate the Teaching Assistants working in early years, secondary schools and special needs.

Have you taken a break from teaching?

Is it time for a return to teaching? Whatever reason took you away from the classroom Teaching Personnel want to get you back to what you love doing. Since 1996, we’ve helped Teaching Assistants find work in UK classrooms and have provided extra support to those who’ve hit pause on their teaching career. We’ll catch you up with any regulation changes, seek out flexible working options and make sure your transition back to teaching is as seamless as possible.

What qualifications do you need to be a Teaching Assistant?

If you’re looking to start your Teaching Assistant career there are a few things you need to know first. Though you don’t need a degree to become a Teaching Assistant, each school will have its own criteria. Some schools will provide all the training but will require you to be educated up to GCSE-level with a C grade in Maths and English. For senior teaching assistant roles, you’ll likely need a formal qualification and considerable experience in childcare or education.
