Youth Worker

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

A Leyland based alternative provision has approached Teaching Personnel to recruit a hard working, resilient and empathetic Youth Worker to provide support and guidance for pupils who struggle to remain in mainstream education.

The School is based centrally in Leyland and caters specifically for Ks1 / 2 pupils with SEMH Difficulties, Learning Difficulties, ODD, Autism, ADHD and challenging behaviours. More often than not these pupils are unable to remain in mainstream education and often require additional support. The School is smaller than average and you will likely be expected to work on a 1:1 or small group basis with pupils who have difficulty accessing the curriculum.

The candidate applying for this role must have some experience supporting pupils with additional needs and have a calm, yet confident manner about them. The candidate must be available full time and be willing to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils who can be very challenging.

The role will be full time, starting as soon as September 2020 and will continue for the full academic year for the right candidate.

You will be required to support the teacher in managing behaviour and work closely with the students in assisting them in their learning and providing support for their families and / or carers. Some of your work may also be off site with pupils who have low attendance rates.
