Youth Work Teaching assistant - Waltham Forest

We are recruiting on behalf of a behaviour special school in Walthamstow for a youth worker teaching assistant to support young people who have not been able to maintain a mainstream school placement due to behavioural and mental health needs. This will be supporting on their secondary site across a small group of Year 8 pupils delivering group support in lessons as well as 1:1 support in a purpose built seclusion room if pupils are not able to manage their behaviour or emotions. Pupils here may be associated with gang culture and crime so we are looking for someone who has worked with challenging young adults to provide tailored support in a non aggressive, understanding manner.

• Previous experience supporting with behavioural or emotional needs
• Will consider applications from sports coaching background , support workers from mental health units and security
• Able to work with physical or aggressive behaviours
• Resilient , confident personality
• Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm
• Immediate start
