Youth work mentor

If so, please see the details below for this exciting youth work mentor role our client Secondary school is recruiting for due to a restructure within the support provisions. The school wishes to appoint a youth work mentor to support identified students on a 1:1 basis to ensure the students are not temporarily or permanently excluded from the school and can continue to be educated to a high standard.

- Earn up to £325 per week, paid on supply initially with a view to a contract

- Working on a one-to-one basis ensuring learners are engaged during lessons

- Supporting independent learning within the inclusion unit

- Gain valuable practical experience for those looking to transition into working in SEN provisions

- commencing September 2019.

Bury is accessible via the M60/M66 as well as the surrounding areas; Bolton, Rochdale, and Preston. There are also various public transport options with links throughout Greater Manchester. Our client school is a large, modern Secondary in Bury, bordering the area of neighbouring Bolton.

The school was newly refurbished and boasts outstanding facilities for students and staff, who can benefit from excellent provisions for learning, including state of the art IT resources. The school currently has over 1000 students enrol, and is oversubscribed for the current Year 7 cohort, which can be attributed to the consistently improving standards of teaching and learning throughout. The school has an internal inclusion unit, in which students who regularly display challenging behaviour can be supported by a pastoral care team and able to learn at the same pace as their peers.

"We currently have a large pastoral team with qualified youth work mentors, but would like to add another from September to provide additional support to a number of key students. The ideal youth work mentor will have previous experience working with disengaged and disadvantaged youths in either an educational or community setting."
