Role: Youth Support Worker (ALN – Additional Learning Needs)
Location: CF5 (Cardiff area)

Start Date: September 2026
Working Days: Monday to Friday (full-time)
Pay Rate: £92.63 per day
Role Overview
I’m looking for a Youth Support Worker with experience in ALN to work through Teaching Personnel in a school setting. The role involves supporting pupils with additional learning needs, both academically and emotionally, with a strong focus on 1:1 support.
You will be working closely with individual pupils, helping them to engage in learning and regulate their emotions throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with ALN
- Deliver and support sensory play activities to aid development and engagement
- Help pupils regulate emotions and behaviour, particularly when they become overwhelmed or stressed
- Use calming strategies to de-escalate situations and support children in settling back into learning
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their wellbeing
- Work alongside teachers and SEN staff to implement tailored support plans
✅ Key Requirements
- Experience working with ALN / SEN learners
- Background in youth work, care, or education support
- Confident supporting children with emotional regulation needs
- Patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- Ideally experience with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or behavioural needs
What I Need
- Availability from September
- Full-time commitment (Mon–Fri)
- Based locally or able to commute to CF5
- Happy to work via Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
