Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate ALN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive primary school in the Cardiff Bay area from 1st September 2026.

This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with Additional Learning Needs and helping pupils thrive both academically and emotionally within the classroom environment.

Inspectors also highlighted the school’s creative curriculum and the strong sense of belonging experienced by pupils and families throughout the school community.

About the Role

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the school’s ALN team to provide tailored support for pupils requiring additional assistance throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
  • Assisting children with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils access classroom activities through differentiated support
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive social interaction
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and wellbeing initiatives
  • Creating a calm, consistent, and supportive learning environment

This role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude, as building strong relationships with pupils will be central to your success within the position.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
