Specialist Resource Base Teaching Assistant

Start Date: September
Pay: £92.63 per day
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday (Term time only – approximately 12 weeks off per year)
Location: CF11
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

This welcoming and inclusive primary school, located near the city centre in Canton, is a two-form entry school with two specialist resource base provisions. The school prides itself on its strong sense of community and commitment to supporting all pupils to thrive.


About the Role

You will be working within a specialist resource base class of up to 10 children with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including Autism, ADHD, and Global Development Delay. You will be part of a supportive team of 5 staff members.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children with fine and gross motor skill development
  • Delivering sensory-based activities
  • Using communication sheets and basic Makaton
  • Supporting language development using various communication strategies
  • Assisting with basic care needs
  • Supporting outdoor play and structured activities
  • Ensuring pupils remain engaged, calm, and supported throughout the day
  • Understanding and responding to each child’s individual needs

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

  • Calm, patient, and nurturing
  • Knowledgeable or experienced in supporting children with ALN
  • Experienced in working with children (desirable)
  • Able to think quickly and adapt to changing situations
  • A strong communicator
  • Reliable and consistent, as stability is key for the children

Requirements

  • Available full-time from September
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through us)
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) (or willingness to apply through us)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
