Job description

We are working with a large and highly inclusive primary school in Cardiff to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support within their Specialist Resource Base (SRB) from September.

About the SRB Provision:
The school has two well-established SRB classes, each supporting around 10 pupils with additional learning needs. The provision is thoughtfully designed to provide a structured, nurturing environment where children can thrive both academically and socially, while still feeling part of the wider school community.

About the Role:

  • Full-time position (Monday–Friday, term time only)
  • Supporting pupils within the SRB with a range of additional learning needs (ALN)
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider support staff
  • Assisting with tailored learning activities, interventions, and daily routines
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in all pupils
  • Helping integrate pupils into the wider school where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with ALN, ideally within an SRB, SEN, or specialist setting
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Confidence supporting needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech & language, and sensory needs
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and making a difference
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
