Year 6 Class Teacher, Islington (Highbury & Islington Station)
A wonderful mainstream school in N1, Islington are recruiting for a Year 6 Class Teacher to join their fantastic team starting in September. This school have been rated 'Good' by Ofsted.
The school is a 12 minute walk from Highbury & Islington station (Great Northern, Overground and Victoria lines) and a 8 minute walk to Caledonian Road & Barns bury station (National Rail).
Leaders, including governors, are highly ambitious and have a clear vision for the school. Their leadership has been successful in improving the school. This is a two form entry school with an incredible amount of support staff ranging from HLTA's, TA's, Art Specialist and a Counsellor on site. The school offers in house art therapy and counselling services.
We aim to develop children's awareness of their own emotions and how to regulate them constructively. PSHE (Personal, Social and Health education) is used frequently in class to develop confidence in expressing and exploring feelings

Role: Year 6 Class Teacher
Position type: Full-time
Start: 03 September 2019
KS2 Experience is essential
You will need to have at least 2 or 3 years' experience teaching either Year 5 or 6 in the UK.

The Successful Teacher:
- The successful applicant needs to have a team player attitude
- The teacher must be extremely driven, reliable and hard-working
- Teacher displays a clear and thorough understanding of the curriculum
- Secure knowledge and skills relating to strategies in working with pupils of all achievement levels.
- An interest, motivation and passion for working with special needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
The School:
Achievements: The school shares with their parents the work of pupils who have presented 'outstanding' work.
Enrichment: The school has a large focus on enrichment activities that include; Massage & Reflexology, cooking, plumbing, yoga, philosophy, art, forest fun, drumming, film appreciation and GarageBand.
Facilities: The school is currently raising money to build a new library.
Community Based: The school holds yearly events; Year 6 Residential (The Year 6 pupils spend a week in the summer in a rural area in Kent) and the 'Parents Football tournament' to name a few.
Pupils' personal development, behaviour and welfare are now good. Pupils are polite and courteous to each other and adults. They display positive attitudes to learning.
