Date posted : 05/11/18
£90 - £120 per day + CPD

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

A school located near to the centre of Darwen are currently seeking to appoint a Teacher on a part time basis. The Head teacher contacted Teaching Personnel early last week to enquire about the availability of teachers who are KS2 experienced and qualified to teach children across the primary curriculum. The role will begin as soon as January 2019 and will continue for at least one term, potentially two terms. The role will be part time, expected to be around 0.6 of the timetable.

The School

The School is currently looking to improve and has put recent measures in place to enhance learning opportunities and develop the children's understanding particularly in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. The children who attend school, usually arrive in school working behind expected levels in comparison to the National Average. The behaviour of the children in school is generally good but there are a minority who will be disruptive and so it is important the applying candidate has good behaviour management skills. There are also a number of children, higher than the National Average, who are given additional funding through Pupil Premium. The school use this to employ additional support staff who can spend time working alongside identified children who require further assistance. The staff in school are very welcoming and supportive, particularly with new teachers and support staff who join the team. Since the appointment of the current Head teacher, there has been a sense of comradery and confidence which has aided the development of teaching and learning opportunities.

The Role

The role will be to work as a part time class teacher in the Year 4 class. It is not entirely clear whether this will be a job share, but you will be expected to complete half term and weekly plans which will be executed to a GOOD standard in the classroom. The class currently has 28 children, with 4 identified individuals who receive additional support through Education Plans. It is therefore important that you are confident in the support of children working above and below expected levels through in depth planning and quality delivery. As mentioned, you will receive excellent support from the Head teacher and SLT, as well as the support staff in your class. You will be expected to hit the ground running as soon as you arrive and expect to be observed regularly as part of the reflective practice used in school. Unfortunately, due to the school's circumstances, the Head teacher will not be able to accept applications from Newly Qualified Teachers. You must hold QTS in order to apply for this role and have completed your Teaching Induction.

The Head teacher

The Head teacher is a well driven and well experienced Head teacher who was appointed in the last couple of years. Since, the Head teacher has worked tirelessly to improve standards and develop relationships with all the staff and the children's parents. The Head teacher is a friendly and approachable Head who will openly speak to her staff if they raise questions/queries in school. The Head teacher is still new to the role but has definitely taken well to the role and is now improving the reputation of the school in the local area.

How to apply

Application is very simple. All you have to do is send over your up to date CV to my email address at Teaching Personnel. Please consider looking over the GOOGLE reviews we currently have live.
