Gorton, Manchester
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Full-Time | 8:30am - 3:30pm | Term-Time Only

Are you a recent graduate eager to gain classroom experience before embarking on a teaching career?

A welcoming and ambitious primary school in Gorton is seeking a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a Year 1 classroom. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, make a meaningful impact on children's learning, and gain invaluable experience ahead of teacher training.

Working alongside experienced educators, you'll help pupils build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve their full potential during this important stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum
  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
  • Encourage positive behaviour and active participation
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community

We're looking for graduates who are:

  • Educated to degree level (any subject considered)
  • Passionate about working with children and young people
  • Interested in pursuing a career in teaching or education
  • Experienced in supporting children through schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering, or similar settings
  • Confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic team players
  • Willing to complete safeguarding checks and training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
