Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant

Small Primary School on the outskirts of Chorley

25 hours per week.

Supporting a child currently in Reception transitioning into Year 1.

The Headteacher of a smaller than average Primary School located on the outskirts of Chorley is looking to appoint a full time teaching assistant to begin in school from September 2019 on a full time basis. The role is to support a little girl who is currently in Reception and will be transitioning into Year 1. This school is a small reputable Primary School serving a close knit community; the school has mixed classes and a hardworking staff team. The plan is for the successful candidate to begin in school on a supply basis with the view to go onto a school contract in 2020 - working 1:1 with the child through the primary year groups up to Year 6.

The funding for this particular role is determined by the local authority. During this academic year, this child has been in school on a part time basis, the school requires full time support from September as they transition into school on a full time basis. This child is working below age related expectations and there may be some aspects of Personal Care. Experience delivering Phonics / Speech & Language interventions would be advantageous.

-Level 2 Qualified Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification

-Experience with MAKATON, Signing and/or Sign a long

-Previous experience working in an Early Years Department or Reception class.

-Previous experience working alongside children with additional needs

-Comfortable with toileting and personal care

-Available to work from September 2019 in school, five days a week (25-30 hours a week)
