Winchester - Learning Difficulties Support

This Special Educational Needs School is one of the largest SEN Specialist provisions based in Hampshire, supporting Secondary aged pupils. The education is typically delivered in small class sizes, with 10-12 pupils to a class and 3-4 support staff and a class teacher.

The school uses support staff and teaching support assistants to provide educational and emotional support to pupils with additional special educational needs. The needs which are catered for by the school include:

• Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
• Physical Disabilities
• Non-Verbal Pupils

This school creates an extremely welcoming and comfortable environment for pupils to learn and for staff to work. Previous experience is not directly required however does help, the skills which will be transferable include: Personal and Residential care, Makaton, PECS and Awareness Courses (Autism, Epilepsy etc.)

The school operates between the hours of 08.30 and 15.30, Monday - Friday. This will give applicants the opportunity to develop rapport with the pupils, building outstanding working relationships which will allow for personal and educational progression.
