Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Primary School
Location: Southampton | Full-Time / Part-Time | Start Date: March 2026
We are looking for a caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming primary school in Southampton on a full-time or part-time basis from March 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an LSA to make a meaningful impact on children’s learning and development while enjoying a flexible working pattern.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils as an LSA
-
Support children with additional needs, including SEN, as required
-
Assist the class teacher with lesson activities and classroom management
-
Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
-
Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence, and participation
-
Follow safeguarding policies and school procedures at all times
Person Specification:
-
Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
-
Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting
-
Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
-
Effective communicator and collaborative team player
-
Enthusiastic about supporting children’s progress and wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
