One to One Tutors required in the Portsmouth and surrounding areas.

Teaching Personnel works in partnership with a number of local secondary schools who provide additional educational provision for their students with 1:1 and small group tutors. The aim of the tuition is to promote progress, raise aspirations and improve overall educational outcomes for their students. The schools seek ambitious individuals who are passionate about teaching, learning and their subject to support a range of students ranging from the most vulnerable to gifted and talented students. We are seeking tutors who a degree of flexibility and are happy to work in a range of educational environments as well as students homes.

Tuition take places on a case by case basis and no 2 assignments will be the same. You could find yourself within a school setting in a learning resource centre delivering work to small groups of pupils of the same ability and similar needs. Differing to this greatly you may be assigned to a pupil who - for varying reasons - can not attend mainstream school and the tuition will be required to take place at home alongside their parent or carer.

In order to register as a tutor with us, we ask that you have excellent subject knowledge. Most of our tuition requests are for Maths and English and so we are always on the look out to register those with a subject specialism in this area. This could be either QTS or an Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field. Perhaps you are a qualified teacher in search of a new challenge with the luxury of being able to pick and choose your hours? Alternately you may be a final year University student in search of extra income. We would like to hear from you.

The ideal candidate:

  • A graduate of English, Maths or Science or related degree with a 2.1
  • Second and third year University students considered
  • Have prior experience of working in an educational environment or with young people
  • Be an expert in their subject and demonstrate sound subject knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 national curriculum
  • Be committed to their continual professional development and show willingness to participate in relevant training courses
  • Be an effective and sensitive communicator and be able to differentiate for a range of learning styles
  • Retired teachers who can offer a few hours per week

Tuition is allocated on a case by case basis. In some cases, tuition will last an entire academic year whilst other provisions are set up by the school within a time frame in line with budgeting. You will have the opportunity to accept or decline tuition that is available, picking and choosing the right time slots you are available for.
