Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based)
Location: Sutton Coldfield Area
Hours: School Hours (Typically 8:30am – 3:30pm, flexible depending on placement)
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)


About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable 1:1 Tutor to support pupils in the Sutton Coldfield area, working across both home and school settings. This role involves supporting students who may face barriers to learning, including those with special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, or pupils not currently in mainstream education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Adapt teaching strategies to engage and motivate learners
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupil confidence and progress
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents, and other professionals
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback and reports


Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or support roles)
  • Good understanding of the UK curriculum
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, flexible, and empathetic approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)


Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification
  • Experience supporting SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision learners
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
