Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor
Location: Selly Oak Area
Hours: Flexible (during school hours)
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:
We are looking for dedicated and passionate 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in the Selly Oak area. This role involves working with students who require additional support outside of a mainstream classroom, either in a school setting or at the pupil’s home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver personalised 1:1 lessons tailored to each pupil’s individual needs
  • Support pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and/or Science
  • Adapt teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and abilities
  • Provide support for pupils with additional needs, including SEND and SEMH where required
  • Track, assess, and report on pupil progress
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils, families, and professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people (teaching, tutoring, or support roles)
  • Good knowledge of the UK curriculum
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Desirable:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Experience working with SEND or SEMH pupils
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
