Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based)
Location: Birmingham Area
Hours: School Hours (Typically 8:30am – 3:30pm, flexible depending on placement)
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable 1:1 Tutor to support pupils in both home and school settings across the Birmingham area. This role involves working closely with students who may require additional academic support, including those with special educational needs (SEN), emotional and behavioural challenges, or those currently out of mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored 1:1 lessons aligned with the pupil’s learning needs and abilities
- Support pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
- Adapt teaching strategies to engage and motivate learners
- Work collaboratively with schools, parents, and other professionals
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback and reports
- Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people (tutoring, teaching, or mentoring)
- Strong understanding of the UK curriculum
- Ability to build positive relationships and manage behaviour effectively
- Patience, resilience, and a flexible approach
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential)
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, or those in alternative provision
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
