1:1 Tutor – Home & School Settings (Birmingham Area)

Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours (typically Monday–Friday, daytime)
Role Type: Part-time / Flexible / Term-time
Pay: Competitive rates depending on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and motivated 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in home and school settings across the Birmingham area. This role involves working with children and young people who may require additional educational support due to SEND, SEMH needs, school exclusion, anxiety, or gaps in learning.

Tutors will deliver personalised lessons tailored to each pupil’s ability, learning style, and educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 sessions in pupils’homes or school settings
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence and engagement
  • Monitor progress and provide session feedback/reports
  • Work collaboratively with parents, schools, and support professionals

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of UK teaching or tutoring experience
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt teaching approaches
  • Experience with SEND/SEMH pupils is highly desirable
  • Relevant teaching, tutoring, childcare, or support qualification preferred
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
