Trainee Teaching Assistant

A welcoming primary school in Woolton is seeking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant to support one of their Key Stage 1 (KS1) classrooms. Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant in KS1, your duties will include:
- Lesson Preparation: Assisting the class teacher in preparing materials and resources for lessons.
- Creating a Positive Environment: Helping to foster a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom atmosphere that supports pupils during a key stage in their development.
- Classroom Support: Working alongside the teacher to assist pupils during activities, manage classroom behaviour, and promote positive interactions.
- Encouraging Learning and Independence: Supporting pupils in engaging with lessons, overcoming challenges, and building confidence and independence.
- Curriculum Support: Assisting pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.

Role Overview and Expectations
- Support pupils to ensure their safety and access to learning.
- Encourage independence where appropriate.
- Prepare the classroom before lessons and assist with tidying up afterwards.
- Help manage pupil behaviour and report concerns to the class teacher.
- Provide guidance to pupils to help them understand lesson content.
- Support engagement with the curriculum as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise pupils during lunch breaks.
- Follow school policies and procedures, particularly in relation to safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection. Report any concerns to the appropriate staff member.
Role Details
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Includes a 30-minute welfare duty
- Eligibility: Open to candidates currently studying towards a TA, CACHE, or Childcare qualification
- Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
