Trainee Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools in Cardiff

A wonderful opportunity has opened up at several welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Cardiff for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to start this term.

This role is ideal for anyone eager to gain hands-on classroom experience before progressing into teaching, special educational needs (ALN), pastoral support, or educational psychology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support teachers across a range of year groups and subjects

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils who need extra help

• Assist with classroom preparation, learning materials, and engaging displays

• Encourage positive behaviour and help track pupils’ progress

• Build strong, trusting relationships with staff, pupils, and parents

• Take part in regular training and receive ongoing support throughout your placement

What We’re Looking For:

• Enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated to helping children learn and grow

• Confident communicator and reliable team player

• Punctual, organised, and proactive in the classroom

• Open to feedback and keen to develop new skills

Desirable Experience (Not Essential):

• Any previous experience or volunteering with children (schools, clubs, youth groups, etc.)

• A genuine interest in working in education or childcare

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
